- breakfast staff impolite, unfriendly in short: out of place Two waiters in the Brasserie made a boring impression and showed no personal commitment to their job

- Very Expensive drinks and very small room which although clean was well below what one would expect of a 4 star hotel.

- Double bed was, in fact, two beds pushed together, which made it more difficult to use.

- Too warm in the room during summer. No ventilation but did get help with a fan after asking in reception.

- no airconditioning, no tea or coffee making facilites in room, the sink in our room did not drain properly resulting in a foul smell

+ The spa and outside spa pool in the early morning with the sun shining and birds singing. Fabulous!
- The room was small and had no view at all. If I had been staying more than one night I would have asked for another room.

+ loved the atmosphere, and the food in the brassserie was good
- but the food in the dining room was execrable - the worst ever. Orchestra members were intimidating to diners; drink ordered (Bacardi and coke called a Cuba Libre) was on card at 2000huf - when bill came it was 2200huf! 10% added to the bill automatically. In the spa which is not necessarily run by the hotel but by another company, two American girls discussing it said it was "the least user-friendly experience" of her life. Agreed.

+ The hotel has a fantastic atmosphere in a historic building. The baths are wonderful and the staff is great.
- The maintainance of the hotel could be bettrer, our balcony needed improvement and the bathroom too.

- Room was a disgrace. Dirty and badly maintained. Stained carpets, wallpaper torn. Rated 2 star, if that. When brought to concierge's attention refused to change room and indicated if we gave him a bribe then maybe he would change room. Due to stay 3 nights we checked out of both rooms after 1. General manager apologised in morning and stated he was having difficulties with certain staff. Informed of room condition he did not offer any compensation just explained the hotel was being renovated. Unfortunately not the 2 rooms we had. Resent paying 4 star prices for 2 star accomodation. I have stayed at the Gellert before some 12 years ago, sad to see it has declined so much.
