+ Having the spa facilities, the Saturday evening Hungarian cultural event in the restaurant, the friendliness of the staff, the brasserie, the help with finding my cousin's left items. - The quality of the meal in the restaurant on Saturday night was not up to a high standard (cabbage rolls were not a good example of the best Hungarian cuisine and were not very freshly made). Hotel Gellert, a turn of the 20th century charmer with spa, offered a luxury introduction to Budapest. My cousin Carol from California and I from London felt warmly looked after by the polite and friendly staff, culturally immersed in Hungarian folk customs with the Saturday night traditional evening of music, singing and dancing; luxuriously healthy with the thermal spa included as a free service and the Thai massage as an extra. We were priveleged to be in Budapest for a concert 13th March 2006 celebrating the Centenary of the famous Hungarian pianist, Lajos Hernadi's birth, our relation by marriage. Carol and I both felt that staying at the Hotel Gellert was a perfect introduction to the charm and daily culture of Budapest, a special complement to the unique family musical celebration.
