Family Places to visit with Children

If you plan to visit Budapest with a Child or Children, there are many fun activities to choose from, which you might enjoy as a family. The three main areas to go are: the Buda Hills, Margaret Island, and the City Park.

In the Buda Hills, you can go for shorter and longer hikes, taking a good variety of fun transportation, such as special railways or a chair-lift.

On Margaret Island, you can rent a bringohinto, a pedal carriage, and visit places such as a musical fountain, an old ruin, and a small zoo, where children can pet some of the animals.

In the City Park, you can visit the City Zoo, the Fun Fair or the Capital Circus, or discover the romantic Vajdahunyad Castle, with a small National Treasure Museum, where the children will be delighted to see scale-models of different landscapes, along with stuffed animals.

Older children might enjoy the Gorzenal, a Skate and Leisure Park, or the Laser Theatre Planetarium, with musical programs as well as educational shows for different age-levels about the universe, or the Transport Museum.
