Millennium Monument in Budapest


Heroes' Square with the beautiful Millennium Monument is a place that celebrates the rich past and history of the Hungarian people. Surrounded by the Museum of Fine Arts and the Palace of Arts, where famous exhibitions are held all through the year, the square meets the beautiful Andrássy Street on one side and is decorated by  colonnades that feature statues of great Hungarian rulers and politicians on the other. The place is a memorial for the honor and pride of Hungary, dominated by the Millenium Monument that was built in 1896 to commemorate the tribal chiefs (who led the Magyars to conquest the Carpathian Basin), the other great leaders in Hungary's history, and to top the great developments that Budapest went through in the times of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy.
