Hungarian National Museum

The museum (founded in 1802) was based on the numismatic, book and document collections of Count Ferenc Széchenyi, and the number of art objects now exceeds one million. The huge national collection has occupied its present site, a neo-Classical building designed by Mihály Pollack, since 1846. Permanent exhibitions: History of Hungary from the foundation of the state to 1990, Lapidarium-Roman stone finds.
