Hungarian Komondor

The protector of the flock


Descendant of the Tibetan dogs, the Komondor was brought to Hungary a thousand years ago by nomadic Magyars to guard flocks of sheep, theire outlook and behavior have hardly changed for more then 1000 years. The Komondor is a confident, alert and commanding dog. It can be very reserved with strangers and is very territorial and highly protective of his family, house, or car it's able to fight with big, wild animals (wolf, bear etc.) or even with men.It is a massive dog with a proud gait. Its body is covered with an extraordinary felted and corded coat.
