The founder of op-art
The museum is named after Hungarian-born painter Győző Vásárhelyi who moved to Paris in 1930 to work, and who as Victor Vasarely gaind world fame as the founder of teh op-art movement. His pictures use sharp colours, geometric forms and optical illusions. The exhibition material encompassing the entire oeuvre of the artist is selected from 400 works bequeathed to the Museum of Fine Arts.
