After poor food in Romania, I fell upon the dining room and was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the evening meal - much better that the usual airport hotel. However, breakfast was a little disappointing with no fresh fruit and only scrambled eggs quietly chilling on a hot plate. The room, which was clearly a double from which the double bed had been removed, was basic and in need of refurbishment. However, on the whole, I would recommend this hotel for the overnight traveller and will certainly stay there again. I was in Budapest recently for the first time in 5 years and was so disappointed with the Gellert. Nothing had changed in fact it was like the bad old communist days! Apart from the reception and cleaning, the staff were cranky, slovenly and ill -trained.
