City Park Ice Rink – Budapest |

The City Park Ice Rink is located in the largest park of Budapest, next to the Rowing Lake, right behind Heroes’ Square. The first Pest Skating Association was established at the end of the 1860’s, and its members received permission from the city council to use a section of the city park lake for skating. A skating lane and a service building followed a decade later. The artificial ice rink was built in 1926, as the second of its kind in Europe (the first being in Vienna). It was rebuilt after the Second World War, and enlarged in 1968. Another phase of reconstruction starts in 2009, during which a mobile ice rink will be available on the other side of the bridge.
The Ice Rink is available for professional and leisure skaters during the skating season (October through March). Following the opening hours, and off-season, the facility is available for rent as a unique event location. During the season, it is open from 9am until 1pm and from 4pm until 8pm on weekdays, and from 10am until 2pm and from 4pm until 8pm on week-ends. It is easy to access by public transportation, on the M1 metro line, from Hősök tere – Heroes’ Square stop. The entrance is located right by the Art Gallery.
