The Museum of Fine Arts, a 100-year old museum in Budapest, is located on the northern border of Heroes’ Square, across from the Mucsarnok (Museum of Contemporary Arts), with Andrassy Boulevard to the west and the City Park to the east. The notable building was completed between 1900 and 1906, providing home to various pieces of fine art, formerly assembled in separate collections. The Hungarian items were relocated to the National Gallery about 50 years ago. Since then, this museum exhibits pieces of International art.
Permanent exhibitions include Egyptian Art, Classical Antiquities, Old Master Paintings, Sculpture, Prints and Drawings, and Art after 1800. Apart from the exhibitions, the museum includes a shop, a cafeteria, and a library. The museum is open each day except for Monday. Organized tours are available. On Thursdays, special programs are held for children and adults.
