The Palatinus Beach is situated on Margaret Island, offering well kept green areas in the heart of Budapest. As a beach on the Danube bank, it opened its doors in 1919, and was later extended. The pools receive water from thermal fountains. During the latter part of the 1980’s, the first 5-lane water slide in Budapest was built on this beach. Due to additional rebuilding and renovation, it is still one of the most popular beaches in Budapest, offering sport facilities and playgrounds, a swimming pool, an adventure pool, a beach pool, a wave pool and a thermal pool.
The beach opens at 9am every day, closing at 7pm Monday through Thursday, and 8pm Friday through Sunday. By public transportation, it is easy to access on bus 26 from Nyugati – the Western Railway Station, and it is a few minutes’ walk from the Margitsziget tram stop of 4-6.
