The Parliament is situated right along the Danube on the Pest side of the capital, in between Margaret Bridge and the Chain Bridge, bordered by the lower embankment to the west, and Kossuth Lajos Square to the east. The monumental building is a unique landmark of Budapest. It seats the National Assembly of Hungary and some adjoining institutions.
Europe’s second largest parliament building is 268 metres long, 123 metres wide, and 95 metres high, with two wings, joined by a central hall. The facade includes 88 statues of Hungarian rulers and military leaders. Beautiful frescos, oil canvas paintings, stained glass windows, and glass mosaic paintings decorate the interior. Guided tours are available in every 30 minutes.
