Castle Hill, a world heritage site, is situated on the Buda side of the Danube, with Old Buda to the north, and Gellert Hill to the south. Tourists may access it on a special bus leaving from Moszkva Square, or on the funicular leaving from the square joining Chain Bridge. Most parts of the hill provide a beautiful panorama view on downtown Budapest on one side, and the Buda Hills on the other.
The Royal Palace, or Buda Castle, is located in the southern end of Castle Hill. The monumental building complex hosts various museums, such as the Budapest History Museum and the Hungarian National Gallery, as well as Hungary's largest bibliotheca. The inner court includes various statues of historical significance. The Castle draws a great number of visitors, and hosts highly popular festivals, such a grand wine festival each year.
