The City Park is the largest park in Budapest, located on the Pest side of the Hungarian capital, in the 14th district. With its 100-ha green area, it is a popular leisure and recreational area, as well as a cultural centre and an event location. Famous sights include the Gundel Restaurant, the Budapest ZOO, the Circus, the Amusement Park, the Szechenyi Spa, the Vajdahunyad Castle, the Petofi Hall, the Transportation Museum, Heroes’ Square, the Museum of Fine Art and the Art Gallery.
The park was established in 1808, most sites were built for the centennial celebration at the end of the 19th century. For decades, the park hosted the famous Budapest International Fair, until it was moved to its own location, Hungexpo. The park also includes various playgrounds, walkways and leisure areas.
