Iceland is a large mountainous island in the north Atlantic Ocean, on the fault between Europe and North America. Part of the country is covered by glaciers, but it has a surprisingly mild climate, and countless geothermal hot-spots. Reykjavík, the capital, is situated in the southwest. Akureyri, the second largest city, lies in the north. Hafnarfjör?ur is the city of elves, and home to the annual Viking festival. Additional sights include the Blue Lagoon, a famous outdoor pool and health centre in area of Reykjavik; the ?ingvellir National Park; the Keri? Volcanic crater lake; and the Dettifoss, Europe's largest waterfall, located in the southern end of Jokulsargljufur National Park.
