Poland is a large country in Central Europe. It has a Baltic Sea coastline and is bordered by Belarus, the Czech Republic, Germany, Lithuania, Russia, Slovakia, and Ukraine. The region includes various landscapes, such as a sandy seaside with high dunes to the north, with lakes of glacial origin towards the middle of the land. The other major city, Krakow, is also a historical centre, with countless ancient monuments, and the largest European medieval market-place. Tourist attractions also include Zakopane, Poland's winter capital, the best starting point for hiking trips; Poznan, a merchant town and a host city of the famous international trade shows; and Gdansk, one of the most beautiful European cities.
