Sweden is the largest of the Nordic countries in Northern Europe. It borders Norway and Finland, and is connected to Denmark via a bridge. The capital city, Stockholm, is spread out over a number of islands on the south central part of the country. Stockholm contains buildings from all ages since the 15th century. The beautiful capital has a very picturesque setting. Other popular destinations include ?re, one of Sweden's largest ski resorts, with 44 lifts; Gotland, the country's largest island, situated in the Baltic Sea, and its capital, Visby; and Kebnekaise, Sweden's highest mountain surrounded by vast wilderness areas, and a popular trail to Abisko National Park.
