Turkey is located on the Mediterranean, in the Anatolian region of West Asia, with a small section in Mediterranean Europe separated by the Turkish Straits (Bosphorus, Sea of Marmara, and Dardanelles); with the the Black Sea to the north, the Aegean Sea in the west and Mediterranean Sea to the southwest. Ankara is the capital. The largest city, however, is Istanbul - where Europe connects with Asia, and tourists can visit famous sites, such as Hagia Sophia, the Topkapi Palace, the Sultanahmet Mosque, the Basilica Cistern and the Hippodrome, Galata Whirling Dervish Hall, as well as numerous baths (hamams) and museums.
