The village of Boldogkováralja is located in northeastern Hungary, 52 kilometers from Miskolc, in the valley of the Hernad river. The settlement received its name from the fort standing on a cliff named Boldogko. The fort was built during the 13th century. Various noble families owned it throughout the centuries, enlarging it from time to time. At the beginning of the 18th century, the emperors troops exploded the fort. In the 1960s, the ruins were somewhat renovated, and more extensive excavation and restoration work started in 2002. In the castle wing of the fort, a museum offers a tin soldier exhibition, a mineral collection and the statues of Istvan Borsos. At the feet of the fort, a restaurant awaits guests with the atmosphere of Medieval times.
