Archbishop's Palace - Bratislava |

The Old Town Archbishop's (Primate's) Palace, Primacialny Palac or Primacialne Namestie, a massive Classicist building painted with pink colour, is one of the most significant sights of Bratislava. The Archbishops house could have been located here as early as the 13th century. The original building was then pulled down during the 18th century, and replaced by a much larger and more luxurious palace, built in the spirit of French Classicism. In 1903, the city bought the palace, and turned it into the mayors residence. Today, the ceremonial rooms house the permanent exhibition of European paintings and famous Bratislava tapestries. The City Gallery supervises the exhibition, which is open every day except for Monday, from 10am until 5pm.
