Teleki-Castle - Gyomro |
||||||||||||||||||
The town of Gyomro is located southeast of Budapest, at the feet of the Godollo-hills, on the northern border of the lowland. Local sights include a regional exhibition, the Puky mansion, a stone bridge, the mansions and the vault of the Teleki family, a fancy fountain and the beach by the lakeside.
The elegant building of the Teleki Castle stands by Ulloi Street. It was built by Duke Samuel Teleki in the 1840s, in Classicist style, designed by Joseph Hild. The renovated building serves as a home for people with special educational needs, and the interior is not open for visitors, but the garden hosts excellent musical performances during the summer months, for which the castle bathing in light provides outstanding background scenery.
