Kisvarda Castle |

The settlement of Kisvarda is located in eastern Hungary, 47 kilometers northeast of Nyiregyhaza, at the Ukrainian border. Apart from its fort, the towns local sights include historical church buildings, a synagogue, a bath, and a museum.
The fort of Kisvarda was built to replace a mud fort during the 15th century. Consecutive expansions resulted in a U-shape building, a Renaissance castle with towers on its four corners. Most of the castle was destroyed, but the ruins have been renovated. The castle can be visited by appointment, and it serves as a cultural site. The Across the Border Hungarian Theatre Festival is held here annually in June-July. Kisvarda Castle - nearest hotels
