Two weeks of Jewish culture in the Hungarian capital

On the 26th of August 2012 the 15th edition of the Budapest Jewish Summer Festival opens its gates to visiting guests. Quality concerts, theater performances, movie screenings, interesting lectures, captivating exhibitions and special culinary delights are ready for local guests as well as tourists that happen to be in the Hungarian capital.

The event traditionally starts on the last Sunday of August and lasts until the first Sunday of September, which this year will be the 2nd. The festival's main intention is to introduce different cultures to each other and through various cultural programs.
The Jewish Tourism and Cultural Centre first staged this event in 1998 and since then it has become a famous and very popular program attracting guests performers as well as visitors from all over the world, to the beautiful old Jewish quarter located in the historic center of Budapest.

This year the opening show will be performed by the world-famous Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra, and in the following two weeks there will be several special musical selections from great artists like Shlomo Bar with Habrera Hativeet ensemble and Yasmin Levi, Noa, Dulce Pontes, pianist József Balogh etc. Beside music, there will be several exhibitions, theatre plays and movie screenings.

The center of the whole festival will be, as alwasy, the beautiful Dohany Street Synagogue, the largest synagogue in Europe and the fifth largest in the world. Some of the programs are going to run at the Rumbach Street Synagogue and the Urania National Movie Theatre as well.
