Abaliget is a popular recreational area and hiking destination, bordering a Natural Reserve area northwest from the city of Pecs, in southern Hungary. Sights in town include a bat museum, a boating lake and a dripstone cave.
The Abaliget Cave, also known as Paplika, is the only known dripstone cave west of the Danube in Hungary. Air in the cave is also used for healing respiratory illnesses. Visitors are welcome in a 500-metre long stretch of the cave. The prettiest part is the grand hall, located at a rather high elevation from the stream level. The cave is open all year round, until 6pm from the middle of spring until the middle of autumn, and until 3pm during the winter season. ![]() ![]() Abaliget Cave - nearest hotels
