The town of Sopron is located on the western end of Hungary, close to the Austrian border, where the flat land meets with the slopes of the Alps. The Fire Tower, also known as Town-Tower, built in the 13th century, serves as a symbol of the romantic little town. It was once the northern gate tower of the walls surrounding the town. Following a great fire in the 17th century, it was rebuilt, with a unique roof and Baroque-style round balcony, which provides a beautiful panorama view on the town and the surrounding areas. 200 steps lead up to the balcony.
The Fire Tower belongs to the Museum of Sopron, which offers the following local sights: Storno House, Fabricius House, Pharmacy Museum, Old Synagogue, Ethnical Museum in the Lenck Mansion, Bakery Museum. Fire Tower Sopron - nearest hotels
