The village of Holloko is located in Nograd county, in the northern part of Hungary, northeast of Budapest, in the Cserhat hills. As the area is not ideal for agricultural activity, the village never became a prominent settlement, but as traditional folk architecture is preserved, it is part of the UNESCO World Heritage sites. Local shops and museums draw many visitors.
The oldest part of the Holloko Fort, the pentangular tower was built in the 13th century. The fort was expanded and remodeled from time to time. Today, visitors can see stone-, customs-, and weapon exhibitions. During the summer season, pegants add variety to the colourful local folk programs. Holloko Fort - nearest hotels
