The Miklos Jurisics Castle Museum is located in Koszeg, at the feet of the Alps, in western Hungary. The oldest part of the Koszeg Castle, a fort was built in the 13th century. Upon expansion, the building complex took on a Renaissance-style outlook, and became a castle. Miklos Jurisics was the captain of those who defended the fort from Turkish invasion. It is also known as Esterhazy-Castle, as the Esterhazy family owned it for over two and a half centuries.
