Pannonhalma is a historic town in the western part of Hungary, 17 kilometers south of Gyor. Apart from the arch abbey, local sights include a millennial monument, a St. Mary�s chapel, a botanical garden, a lookout and a forest park. The town draws many tourists all year around.
The Benedictine Arch abbey of Pannonhalma is part of the UNESCO World Heritage sites since 1996. Monarch Geza, father of the first Hungarian king, established it in 966. The building complex sits on St. Martin�s hill. Guided tours are available. The local bibliotheca includes a great number of book curiosities.
