Pecs � Museum Street

The city of Pecs is located in the southern part of Hungary, at the feet of the Mecsek Mountain. Visitors may enjoy a friendly climate, well-kept gardens, and unique historical and cultural sites. The city was founded by Roman legions in the second century, by the name of Sophianae. By the fourth century, it became a province seat, and a major center of Christianity.
In the city of Pecs, a great number of museums welcome all who wish to get acquainted with the local cultural heritage. Museum of mining, ethnicity museum, natural science museum, local history museum, pharmacy museum, as well as various art museums and galleries are open to visitors, every day except for Monday. The Kaptalan Street is also called the street of museums, as the majority of buildings on the street host a museum.
