St. Georg�s Hill � Tapolca

The town of Tapolca is located at the northwestern part of Lake Balaton, surrounded by basalt hills. Local sights include the Malom (mill) lake, the cave of the lake accessible by boat, park of ruins, and the house where Janos Batsanyi was born.
Szentgyorgy-hegy - St. Georg�s Hill is 415 meters high. It is accessible from all sides, and includes an educational path, open to all visitors. Huge basalt pillars recall the volcanic activity of the past, when the rivers of lava consolidated on the top and the side of the mountains, and the basalt layer protected the less solid inward layers from erosion. At the cracks, edges were rounded, and thus the present pillars were formed.
