The city os Miskolc is situated in Borsod-Abauj-Zemplen county, in the norteastern part of Hungary, by the Buk Mountain. Miskolctapolca, formerly called Gorombolytapolca, is located 5 kilometers from downtown Miskolc. The local cave spa is famous for its natural beauty and excellent thermal water. The neighbourhood also abounds in pretty natural sights, drawing many visitors.
The Miskolctapolca Cave Spa and Medicinal Bath receives its thermal water from a spring, which was well known for its excellent water as early as the 15th century. Official papers from 1710 mention plans for building a bath house in this spot. Tapolca became a holiday and spa resort in the 1920-30�s, when a new spa was built.
