The Ferto-Lake belongs to the Ferto-Hansag Nature Conservation Park, located in the northwestern corner of Hungary, overlapping into Austria. The lake is one of the most unique water habitat in Europe, and UNESCO classified it as a biosphere conservation area. The water is rich in salt, the lake is mostly shallow, and apart from beautiful nature walks, the area offers fine beaches with sailing, boating and surfing possibilities
The conservation park organizes special events each month, so-called unique green days. On these days, individuals, families and groups can sign up for early morning bird watch, canoe tours and hikes.
