Badacsonytomaj is situated on the western part of Lake Balaton, on the north shore by Badacsony Hill. The region has been populated since ancient days. The town includes sights such as the house of Roza Szegedy, the abode and winery of Sandor Kisfaludy and his wife, and a Roman Catholic Church built of basalt in Neo-roman style.
The Folly Botanical Garden is located in between Badacsonytomaj and Badacsonyors. The garden was established by Gyula Folly at the beginning of the 20th century. His aim was to collect species that bear the local climate well. Today, the botanic garden has 5 hectares of land, still cared for by the same family, although belonging to the Badacsony-Region Conservation Area.
