Nagycenk is situated in the western part of Hungary, in between Budapest and Vienna, near the Hungarian-Austrian border. The unique Baroque castle, an architectural masterpiece, is now a museum. It was built around 1750, as an expansion of an existing mansion. The middle of the 19th century was heyday of the castle � during this time, the honored Istvan Szechenyi resided within its walls.
The building complex consists of three wings. The museum, bringing back the atmosphere of the past, has two major exhibitions. The one on the ground floor tracks the history of the Szechenyi family, while the one on the first floor documents the wide-ranging industrial and political endeavors of Istvan Szechenyi.
