Szechenyi Square � Pecs

The city of Pecs is located in southern Hungary, close to the border, right below the Mecsek Mountain. The region enjoys a highly pleasant climate, as the wind coming down the hillside cools the air on hot summer nights, while the winter months offer more sunshine and a more moderate temperature due to the southern location. The city is rich in historic and cultural sites, drawing many tourists.
Szechenyi Square is also called the heart of Pecs. The great mosque, which also serves as an emblem of the city, is located on this square, surrounded by other historic buildings. A unique feature of the square�s pavement is that it includes every kind of stone that can be found in the region. Renowned buildings on the square include the town house, the house of arts and literature, the church of mercy, with a nice fountain in front of it; an art gallery, and a bank office with porcelain ornaments.
