The town of Tapolca is surrounded by basalt hills, on the northern shore of Lake Balaton, in western Hungary. The region is famous for its quality wine. Local sights include the Mill-Lake, the park of ruins, and the St.Georg-Hill.
The Malom-to, Mill-Lake, which is also called the large pond, was created by dam on the upper part of the local stream in the 1930�s. A mill was placed by the dam, to use the power of the falling water. Another dam on the lower part of the stream created a smaller pond. Both lakes are popular excursion-areas.
