Balatonederics is located at the edge of the Tapolca-basin, partially surrounded by two hills, on a Natural Reserve area. Sights in town include the Svastics Castle, the Csodabogyos (wonder berry) castle, a nature observation path with 38 stations, and the Africa Museum.
Endre Nagy, the famous Hungarian Africa-explorer and hunter established the Africa Museum, in the very mansion that used to be his hunting cottage. The exhibition displays a large collection of valuable tropies, as well as a Tanzanian ethnical collection, consisting of bone- and wood carvings, furniture, and religious relics. The park around the mansion is converted into a small safari, with buffalo, camel and zebra. The museum is open from the beginning of April to the end of Octobre.
