The Castle of Sumeg is located north of Lake Balaton in western Hungary. The castle is one of the most intact forts in Hungary. It was built in the 13th century, on a sole hill in the middle of a plain. Once, it was easy to defend; today, it is a unique landmark.
The castle fort underwent subsequent enlargements and alterations during the centuries. Today, it hosts a museum, with exhibitions about life in the past and the history of the region.
