Petofi Bridge, Petőfi híd, is situated in the southern part of Budapest, on the Main Ring, serving major tram lines and heavy traffic in the area. Built in 1933-37, it was first named after Miklós Horthy. This bridge was bombed in 1945, and rebuilt in 1950-52, when it was named after the Hungarian poet Sándor Petőfi. Renovated at the end of the 1960’s, the 1970’s, and in 1996, the bridge is 378 metres long.
